“You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word. Psalm 119:114-115
Observation
Today we study Psalm 119:114, You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word. The LORD God is our hiding place and we know from previous study that we run to Him and we are safe (Proverbs 18:10). We can hide in God when the problems of the world, or the problems of the day are too much for us. We always have a safe place to go, we go to the LORD and we are safe in our hiding place.
God is our shield. When we go to Him in our troubles, we not only are safe in our hiding place, He shields us. He stands over us like a mighty oak tree protecting us from the storms. He put a surrounding safety and cover over us like a castle and shields us from trouble. He shields us so that the enemy and the storms may not harm us. I picture Noah and his family in the Ark, they we shielded because of their faith, while the rest of the world was in the storm. This is how he shields us in safety, with His Mercy and Love (Lamentations 3:22-23).
I hope in Your Word. Yes we know these Words of Scripture and we hope in them, because we have faith that they are the Word of God. We depend on God as our hiding place and our shield, because we believe Him, we have faith in Him. We are weak sometimes in comparison, but He makes us righteous (Proverbs 18:10). We hope in the Word that even though things may not be good now, we know God has us and never will let us go. We know we have the victory in Him and Jesus Christ.

Application
We know that God is with us and in us (Proverbs 3:5, Proverbs 23:4). We know in with our hope and faith that He is our hiding place, our shield. We hope in His word as we study it, and meditate on it in the morning and at night. This helps us know and remember our God is with us, in us and keeping us safe. We simply need to trust in the LORD to apply this to our lives (Proverbs 3:5). Instead of being lost in worry and fear, we should run to Him and know he is our hiding place and our shield.
Prayer
Thank you Father God for this Word of hope and strength. I pray we remember in our struggles that we have a strong tower, a shield, a hiding place. We have an Ark that protects us in the storm, and it is you. Remind us to seek You and not seek other things to help us in struggles and storms. I pray that we know that everywhere we are You are there, in us and with us. I pray that we also remember You are there with us in our successes also, and we can praise You and thank You for our successes and victories, because in the same way, You are with us and in us there also. I pray that you heal us, strengthen us, give us victory and success in Jesus Christ. I thank you for hearing our prayers, and I pray for everyone. I thank you for this lovely day.
