“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NASB
Observation
Definitions:
dismayed - to break down the courage of completely, as by sudden danger or trouble; dishearten thoroughly; daunt.(2) to surprise in such a manner as to disillusion: (3) to alarm; perturb:
This verse from Joshua 1:9 has the LORD God telling us through Joshua a command. It is very important to understand this is not a suggestion or a good idea but a command and the command includes: Be Strong, Be Courageous, Do Not be Frightened, Do Not be Dismayed (or lose courage, or be surprised or alarmed). Then the LORD God (Yahweh) gives us the reason for this, and the reason is the LORD God is (do you see the real and personal and the here in now in the word 'is') with you (or me) - wherever you go. This means the LORD God is with us whether we go to the wash room, a shopping trip, a meeting, or even sitting with kings and queens. The LORD God says, I am with you (me) wherever you (me) go. So, then, He commands us, got it, commands us not to be frightened, lose courage, surprised, or alarmed, but to BE Strong and Courageous. How empowering this is when you let it sink into your soul, your spirit, and your heart. This alone can change our lives. Be Strong and Courageous in all you do, because we know the LORD God is (meaning even right now as I write this, and right now as you read this) the LORD God IS with Us!
Application
How can we apply this to our lives. No more problems then. No being frightened, no losing courage, no being surprised or alarmed. Why? Because the Almighty LORD God is with us wherever we go, Amazing Right! So, Be Strong and Courageous in every situation and know right there by your side, who has your back (and your front, your sides, your top and bottom) the LORD God Yahweh! I urge you and myself to take this exactly as it is and go forward and never look back because we are now and forevermore will know that we are Strong and Courageous because the LORD God is with us, wherever we are.
Prayer
Thank you Father LORD God Yahweh for all that you do for us. Thank you for this amazing, glorious, life-changing Word from Your Word. I pray we will take this Word and be changed completely in our spirit to being completely confident in strength and courage. Thank You Father God. Shalom, brothers and sisters in the LORD.
